Most of my writing has been memoirs or historical fiction. I find writing about my personal stories relaxing and the process keeps my mind active. It also gives me a project with some purpose in my retirement years.
I have found writer workshops to be very helpful over the years, to get other writer’s opinions. What I love the most about the AWOW group is its convenience. I can walk to my office, turn on my computer and I’m there with everybody. It’s a much smaller and more intimate writing group and I love to be able to see the writing displayed in front of me…makes the reading much easier to understand.
AWOW is a major improvement for me personally, because I had a problem hearing readers across a noisy room at the DFW Writers Workshop. Plus, I had to dedicate an entire evening to driving across Dallas every week.
Another great benefit of AWOW is the ability to go into other writer’s previous chapters if you miss a read here and there. AWOW is just a great group of people who are all trying to improve their craft.
